Today, we are going to talk about a learning platform that is mostly under the radar and only came to my attention while I was following up on S1REN's content creation a few months ago. Now, this is not a new platform; as you can see, there are some brief discussions on good old Reddit regarding FAQs and similar topics.

SlayerLabs

Slayer what?

SlayerLabs is a virtual network hosting platform that allows for testing entire networks within a safe environment. The pricing is a flat $14.99 per month. There is no pro or special plan, and there are no cancellation fees.

Now, I won’t sit here and lie, claiming I was sold right off the bat. At first, I thought, "What in the world is this, and how is it popular?" But after clicking through and doing my due diligence, I started to see that it was the platform is offering six distinct ranges, which could be completed linearly via the story mode (if present) or in free range.

Now, the story mode is a cool way to get your feet wet early on and get yourself used to the labs environment. The free range modes are great for honing your methodology. These free ranges are much larger, allowing you to be fully immersed in the network.

How is it special?

With the market flooded with similar platforms like HackTheBox, TryHackMe, ProvingGrounds, and others, how does SlayerLabs compare?

Now, SlayerLabs is not a traditional learning platform, which for some may be a deciding factor in choosing a different service. However, it offers something that others don't: a platform where you can connect to a configured network with as many as 41 virtual machines, allowing you to test methodologies and tools in just a few moments.

Yes one of the networks does indeed have 41 Virtual machines

Some people may not fully appreciate the impact of this, but having the ability to connect to a whole network of 41 virtual machines across 4 domains within seconds for just $15 a month is a great deal. This setup not only allows you to test methodologies, but also to experiment with new tools you create within a controlled environment.

How are the labs?

As of now, I have successfully completed both Neotek and ZetaTour, which are both really well put together.

The virtual machines are very stable and did not cause any direct issues during my testing and had no downtime. Outside the environmental stability, the storytelling and visuals were truly unique and made me feel like I was within this cyberpunk-style future at moments.

Conclusion

SlayerLabs is an essential platform that I plan to keep in my toolkit, offering capabilities to test tools and develop new methodologies. I highly recommend trying this platform, even if just for a month.
